Privacy policy

Your plans are yours. This notice explains clearly what personal data we process, why, and how you can control it, in accordance with Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties.

1. Data controller

Jalo Tech S.A.S. ("Jalo", "we", "us"), operating in Mexico, is responsible for processing your personal data when you use the jalocompany.tech website, the Jalo mobile app and their related features (the "Services"). You can reach us at [email protected] for anything related to your privacy.

2. Data we collect

We only collect what we need for Jalo to work and get better:

  • Browsing data: pages visited, interactions, device and browser type, language, approximate location derived from your IP address, and date and time of access. We get it through Google Analytics.
  • Account data (if you use the app): name, username, email or phone number, profile photo and preferences.
  • App usage data: plans you create or join, friends you invite, places you save and your tastes, so we can recommend better plans.
  • Location (only if you allow it on your device), to suggest places nearby.
  • Contact details you share when you write to us.

The website's plan builder does not send the plan, place or date you type to our servers: the invitation is put together in your browser. We don't ask for sensitive personal data or financial data.

Waitlist: we store your email, optional city, language, landing page, visit-source category, authorization for the launch announcement, and request and confirmation dates. Joining does not create an app account. We do not send your email, city, or confirmation link to Analytics.

3. How we use your data

Purposes required to provide the Services:

  • Creating and managing your account.
  • Letting you put plans together, invite your friends and coordinate dates and places.
  • Showing you recommendations for places, events and activities.
  • Keeping the Services secure, preventing fraud and complying with legal obligations.
  • Responding to your requests, questions and feedback.

Secondary purposes, which are not required for the service:

  • Analyzing usage statistics to improve the website and the app.
  • Sending you news, surveys or communications about Jalo.

If you don't want us to use your data for secondary purposes, write to us at [email protected]. Saying no won't affect your access to the Services.

If you join the waitlist, we use this information to confirm your email and notify you of the launch. You can withdraw this authorization and request deletion of your entry by emailing [email protected].

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies from Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (for example, how many people visit and which sections they like). We temporarily store your visit-source category and landing page to understand how you reached the waitlist.

You can block or delete cookies from your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site will keep working without them.

5. Who we share your data with

We don't sell your personal data. We only share it in these cases:

  • Providers that help us run the Services, such as hosting, cloud infrastructure and analytics (for example, Google LLC through Google Analytics). They act on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations, and may process data outside Mexico.
  • Other Jalo users, with the information you choose to share in a plan (for example, your name and profile photo with the people you invite).
  • Competent authorities, when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Jalo and its users.

Transfers that the law allows without your consent will only be made in the cases it provides for.

6. Retention and security

We keep your data while you have an active account or as long as it's needed for the purposes described and to meet legal obligations. After that, we delete or anonymize it.

We apply reasonable administrative, technical and physical security measures to protect your data against damage, loss, alteration or unauthorized access. No system is perfect, but if a breach significantly affects your rights, we will let you know.

7. Your ARCO rights

You have the right to Access your data, Rectify it if it's inaccurate, Cancel it when you believe it's no longer needed, and Oppose its use for specific purposes. You can also withdraw your consent or limit the use of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with: your name and a way to reply to you; a document proving your identity (or your representative's); a clear description of the data and the right you want to exercise; and anything that helps us locate your data.

We will reply within 20 business days at most and, if applicable, carry out your request within the following 15 business days. If you believe your right was not addressed, you can go to the competent personal data protection authority.

8. Minors

The Services are not directed at people under 16 and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a minor has given us information, write to us and we'll delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy due to changes in the Services, our practices or the law. We'll publish any change on this page with its update date and, if it's significant, we'll let you know in the app or by email.
